Sustainability.
Placon is committed to a more sustainable manufacturing process, from initial design to product execution. We are part of green initiative coalitions and are members of sustainability and reporting organizations for increased transparency and accountability. Creating with sustainability in mind has been part of our mission from Placon’s foundation; we started incorporating post-consumer recycled material into our packaging in 1988, and built our own in-house recycling and extrusion facility to meet increased demand.
OxyStar®
Placon pioneered the first-ever recyclable barrier material that combines PET with an oxygen scavenging agent to improve food shelf life.
SCS Global Services
Placon maintains PCR certifications through SCS Global Services for all PET material, including sheet and products made with 50%, 75% and 100% PCR.
EcoStar® 50S
All our stock PET products are made with EcoStar® 50S, a sustainable material made with PCR plastic that meets the packaging requirements of all 50 U.S. States.
Zero Net Waste
Our organization is committed to Zero Net Waste, with two of our four locations already accredited. We have plans to be completely ZNW by 2028.
